MAY BEAUTY FAVOURITES

I cannot believe May is already over! Tomorrow, we will be starting the 6th month of 2018. Where did time go?

To end the month of May, I created a post detailing and providing a mini review of the beauty products I have mostly been using all throughout the month. It has been done by so many bloggers so I know you know how it goes.

Here are the products that made it to my May favourites list.

1. COSRx Oil-Free Ultra Moisturizing Lotion (with Birch Sap)

COSRXx oil-free lotion

I switched my good old Cicaplast Baume B5 to this baby now that we are approaching those hot and sunny days. This is my go-to moisturizer during humid days because it keeps my skin hydrated without being thick and greasy.

The lotion (or moisturizer) was actually formulated to be paired with the COSRx's actives - BHA, AHA, and vitamin C. Actives can be harsh on the skin and applying this really gives that much needed soothing after an acid treatment. I use my BHA on a daily basis and it complements it very well.

Its star ingredient is 70% birch sap (Betula Platyphylla Japonica juice) which is known to have a calming effect on the sensitive and irritated skin. Though it is soothing, those with an allergy to essential oils should be cautious because it contains tea tree oil and lemon peel oil.

I'm really glad about this product because it is a no-fuss moisturizer. It doesn't have any fancy claims and just simply hydrates and moisturizes which is what moisturizers are meant to do in the first place. And it is suitable for all skin types.

2. Biore Sarasara UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence UV 50 PA ++++

Biore UV Watery Essence sunscreen

This month, I had a lot of lazy days where I can't even be bothered to do my own skincare. What I did most of those times was to just splash my face with water, apply a toner then layer the Biore sunscreen on top. It is very hydrating like a moisturizer, my skin just drinks it all up.

It is a chemical sunscreen with a light and very elegant formulation. Elegant in a sense that this is the only sunscreen I have encountered with a high SPF that has a consistency of a moisturizer. Most sunscreen with a high SPF tends to be thick and oily. In my opinion, they have perfected the best sunscreen texture without compromising protection.

It smells fresh with a slight hint of lemon. It is non-greasy, applies smoothly and gets absorbed quickly. Like other chemical sunscreens, it leaves no white cast.

The downside of this formulation is the alcohol content. I was skeptical to try this at first because of that but so far, it has not caused any irritation or dryness on my skin. I have been using it for almost two years now.

***I heard that they reformulated it last 2017. The formulation I have is the 2015 version.

3. Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb

Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb

Rihanna did a lot of amazing things and this is probably the most amazing out of all of them. This product is featured in my 5 Things I Bought from Sephora for Spring post. I have not stopped using this product ever since I got it. I carry it around everywhere. It is moisturizing and it makes my lips plump and juicy. I use it with a lip liner or sometimes I would put it on top of lipsticks. I really love it and it makes me feel (and look) like I'm 16 again.

4. Rimmel Lasting Finish 1000 Kisses Stay on lip contouring pencil

Rimmel lasting finish 1000 kisses 014 wild clover

I was never much of a lipstick wearer but lately, I've been wearing a lot. I found myself grabbing this lip liner most times. It has a warm nude shade that works on every lip color I use - from my gloss bomb to my oranges. I have the shade 014 Wild Clover. I'd say it's an all-around lip liner. Plus it is a drugstore brand so you don't have to spend a fortune on it.

6. Phytosquam Intense

Phytosquam Intense

This probably does not belong to beauty but I threw it in here because this product deserves a mention. At the beginning of April, I started to have a really itchy and flaky dandruff. I have been using a silicone powder to give my hair volume and I think it is what caused my dandruff. I usually use Nizoral shampoo to treat it but the thing with Nizoral is that it is drying. I opted to use a milder commercial anti-dandruff shampoo at first but it was not effective. I was convinced to start on Nizoral when I saw this product in a parafarmacia. It is a shock treatment for severe and itchy dandruff. It claims to be an intensive treatment yet it leaves the hair smooth and soft. I was sold!

I apply it on a dry scalp and leave it on my scalp for 7 minutes. Then I rinse it with water and it lathers into a shampoo. I used it for two weeks as recommended and my dandruff is all gone now. A really good and promising product. I recommend it 100%.
